American Red Cross Launches First Aid App
Smart phone users everywhere are now able to access potential
life-saving information through the use of a newly-released app from
the American Red Cross.
The app provides information on how to handle most common First
Aid situations. It also features videos and interactive quizzes. Badges
can be earned by taking the quizzes and shared with friends through
social media, showing off their life-saving knowledge.
First in a series of apps to be created by the American Red Cross, it is the only First Aid app created or endorsed by
the American Red Cross for use on both the Android and iPhone platforms putting expert advice at users’ fingertips.
“The app is simple to use and will aid those in an emergency, whether it’s in the backyard, in the conference room or
anywhere in between,” said Laura Steinmetz, director of community and government relations for the Red Cross’
South Jersey region..
As helpful as the app may be, Steinmetz urges that it is not to be used in place of actual First Aid training. “Everyone
should load this onto their smart phone as an important first step in learning what to do for medical emergencies and
in creating a family preparedness plan,” said Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council chair, Dr. David Markenson.
