Officially it is Autumn but as we are still blessed with Summer weather, lets dwell on the positive aspects of what has been a good Irish summer. There has been a major review of our library electronic and print resources during the summer period. The Library Users Committee was given this remit departmentally to undertake this review. My thanks to each representative for their departmental feedback and assessment of needs. Your feedback was invaluable in this process. Our allocations have been cut twice this year and it makes it essential that the library resources we provide are cost effective and used by our users. As part of the stock take process in June we have prepared for these changes to our journals in particular. On page 4 we advise you of changes for January 2014, when we will move to electronic delivery of the greater majority of our journal collection. This will not be a new dimension for some users but for those of you who use the print base it is a significant difference. To assist in this process we will devote the December issue of TRIMESTER to understanding the process of accessing your favourite journals and databases through the electronic platform and provide training to support your needs. In this issue, we also report on the successful Midwifery Journal Club June Meeting and the enlightening CONUL (Consortium of National and University Libraries) Information Literacy Seminar which I attended in June. We continue to support the Hospital’s initiative to have a smoke-free campus with our focus on the website www.quit.ie As always your comments regarding this production are welcome. Anne M. O’Byrne
