elcome to the June issue of TRIMESTER, which reviews our Health
Science Libraries Group Conference which was held in Dublin on May
22nd and 23rd. Aptly titled Synergy: skills, standards and collaboration among
health librarians the conference focused on our unique skill sets and how we can assist
our profession and our users through collaboration and teaching.
You have all been navigating our Electronic Space since the beginning of 2014
when the majority of our journals were moved to E-only access. To give our new and
our familiar library users an update on this change we have an article on page 3 which
will point you in the right direction when accessing journals and articles.
The Midwifery Journal Club, held on May 29th, is reviewed on page 4, following an
enlightening presentation entitled Children First presented by our Head Social Worker,
Sinead Devitt. Charmaine Scallan, Clinical Skills Facilitator, has kindly provided a
review of the Fourth Edition of the book CTG Made Easy on page 5. This title guides
the healthcare professional in the monitoring of fetal heart rate during labour.
We always aim to keep you up to date with any free resources, training and websites
suitable for your needs. On page 7 we’ve noted a number of free webinars and
webcasts that you may find interesting and report on a free webinar on EndNote
training on page 6.
We welcome ideas for articles in TRIMESTER, or interesting and useful
websites so please let us know if you have any and we will include them in the next
issue. Also if anyone would like to review a book that was recently added to the
library collection please contact us.
Finally, we are currently running a library survey to gain your views on certain
services. This simple ten question survey will only take one minute to complete.
Those who complete the survey will be entered into a draw for a One4All Gift Card!
