O’Byrne Snr Library Assistant: Geraldine Walsh Welcome to the Summer issue of Trimester. In this issue we brief you on changes to our document delivery service from the British Library. An unwarranted change has been forced upon us but we have benefited from the alteration with the use of our new document delivery supplier Subito. Read more about this development on page 3. Other library service providers within the industry have given freely of their training skills this quarter and have facilitated early morning and lunchtime training sessions for our library users. Both of our training days were well attended by staff and will continue as regular events. Our thanks to Maurice Clementi of Ovid and Richard Crookes of Ebsco, for joining us in the Rotunda and supplying this training (see page 2). The Midwifery Journal Club continues to develop both in the scope of presentations and attendances. Thank you to all for supporting this initiative. Read our report on the Midwifery Journal Club, on page 3. With the exception of the remaining group of RCSI Research students, our student body are taking a summer break from studies and travelling far afield. September will bring new students with their new and varied information needs. Lest you think we are not gainfully employed during this period, this is not the case! LIS is involved in the ongoing provision and graphics of the Rotunda Delivery staff newsletter which has been successful to date. In addition we are involved in a number of Tercentenary projects which will mark the birth of Bartholomew Moss, our founder. Projects include the ‘History of the Chapel’ and an exhibition to be held on the Tercentenary week in November 2012. Considerable historical research goes into the development of such projects and should benefit us all. Also, my work as EAHIL council member continues. The EAHIL annual conference meets July 3rd to 6th in Brussels. I will report on EAHIL in our September issue. The research focus continues with the development of the Rotunda Research Database and contribution to the HSE Lenus database. Please contribute to both by sending your current publications or proposed research (as approved by the ETHICS Committee). Finally, watch out for our first Trimester supplement in our upcoming September issue which will highlight the varied and interesting web resources and smart phone applications which we have featured in our library newsletter over the past five years. Remember, we are here to meet your needs so please advise us of your information or departmental training needs. Now that summer is finally here, enjoy it! A M. O’Byrne
