" We have a deep passion for racing . My husband has raced for years , my kids have raced ," Barton said . " Dennis always wanted a racetrack and now he ' s got it and we are glad to share it with other race enthusiasts ."
Admission for grand stands are $ 15 with children 10 and under free , and $ 35 for pit area with 10 and under $ 20 .
Even young children can participate in the races during intermission with foot races and bicycle races . " It ' s good , clean family fun ," Barton said . There is always something good to snack on at the races and something cold to drink at the concession window . A good grilled cheeseburger or hotdog with a cold soda is a favorite among regular visitors .
Races aren ' t the only noise you will hear this season coming from the mountain . Thunder Mountain Speedway is planning special events that include a monster truck event , a two-day show for Nibroc , concerts and a mudbog .
The Bartons have faced many hurdles getting the speedway exactly the way they envisioned their local business over the past five years .
" We never gave up . We just keep pushing to make it better each year ," Barton said . " This year is going to be the best yet ."
