THROW AN AXE , TEE OFF , HAVE A DRINK AND COMPETE

It ' s not every day you get to take out your frustrations by throwing an axe at something as hard as you want , but at Tomahawks in downtown Corbin , they make that a reality and give you a beer to drink while you do it .

The owners , Jennifer Roberts and Amy Farris , say about 60 percent of the people who try axe throwing come back for more . Most people spend around two hours throwing when they come in .
Throwing axes is not only for the men . Women can get their frustrations out too . Danielle Creekmore has been throwing axes since 2021 , and never considered trying her hand at it before going to Tomahawks .
" I am here on the weekends too ," Creekmore said . " I like how you can come here and hang out with the guys , have a good time and be competitive with each other ." She said there was a bit of a learning curve to it . " For me it was learning how to throw it specifically and finding my proper stance . I would try different stances the guys would do but then I finally found my groove and once you find it it gets so much more fun ,"
Creekmore shared some of the benefits of axe thowing .
" It ' s a great stress reliever and you have a blast ," she said .
They have grown the love for axe throwing in the community . On Thursdays , they host tournaments . They encourage people to join their rapidly growing axe league .
" When you come through the door you have to sign a waiver and then we will put you with a coach that we like to call a ' pit boss ,'" Amy Farris said . " They go over the rules and techniques . We will help you learn how to stick it then step back and let you find what works for you ."
