London near the small rural community of Hazel Patch . The battlefield is located on the Wilderness Road www . wildcatbattlefield . org Though the armies have long since disappeared , many of their trenches remain as reminders of what happened on that October day . If you visit the battlefield and stand quietly behind the trenches you may feel your heart begin to pound just like the soldiers ' hearts pounded in 1861 . Late in 2007 a new trail was completed on Infantry Ridge . The completion of this new trail will now allow easy access to the complete battlefield . Camp Wildcat Battlefield has trails to Hoosier Knob and Robinson Spring , with more in the planning stage at this time . The Upper Cumberland River above the falls is fairly remote , with the upper most section consisting of primarily riffle / run habitat and gradually turning into riffle / run / pool habitat the further you move downstream . There are mild rapids throughout this portion of the Upper Cumberland River so research into the section of the river you are floating should be done before making any trip . Cobble , boulders , and bedrock are the main substrates found in the river as it flows from its source at the confluence of Poor Fork and Clover Fork downstream and into Lake Cumberland . Anglers fishing the Upper Cumberland can look forward to quality channel catfish , smallmouth bass , spotted bass , and walleye .
