Like the other 119 counties located within Kentucky , Knox County was faced with its fair share of challenges and adversity in 2021 . Despite that , the county and its leaders were able to persevere the challenges brought on by the pandemic and consider the year a positive one in shaping its future .
OVERHAULING THE ROAD DEPARTMENT
When looking back to 2021 , Knox County Judge-Executive Mike Mitchell immediately thought of the announcement of the Cumberland Run , a new horse-racing facility coming to Knox
County , along with the promise of hundreds of jobs . However , Knox County experienced more than just the Cumberland Run ’ s announcement . For example , Mitchell considers the moving and overhauling of the county ’ s road department another milestone worth noting .
