DEAR FELLOW
STAKEHOLDERS
201 3 was an extremely busy and productive
year for Triangle Bikeworks. As we continued
to look for ways to give youth opportunities
not normally afforded them we were involved
in many things.
In February our youth cyclists were selected for the second
year to speak about the youth leadership program, Spoke’n
Revolutions. The program involves distance cycling as a catalyst
for leadership development, confidence building and
appreciation for outdoor activities such as, cycling, camping
and hiking. A major component of the program is this nation’s
history and the role people of color have played in its success.
As a result of this program we were one of the few youth
organizations fortunate enough to receive the America’s Best
Idea grant from the National Park Foundation. This foundation’s
purpose is to get more people out into the National Park
system.
program. In the spring we held the
second “Wild and Scenic Film
Festival” with films centered around
people whose efforts are to work
with and improve their environment.
Completing June and into July we
were on tour with the Spoke’n
Revolutions youth cyclists learning
the music and culture of the
Mississippi and Arkansas Delta
regions. In August, we began
cyclocross practices twice per week
with a new group of students
comprising of 1 4 middle school and
high school students.
Then in the fall we held North
Carolina's first “Bicycle Film Festival”,
a gathering of cultures from art, film,
and music with films centered
around the bicycle. All of our efforts
and work are done to provide
funding for our youth programming.

Our fabulous board members enjoy
that we are able to bring previously
unimaginable opportunities to youth
that expand their awareness of self,
build confidence and offers a path
of leadership where it didn’t exist
before. We see the individual
changes. The transformations that
happen when mind, body and spirit
come together for the purpose of
achieving a goal. As a supporter and
fellow stakeholder we look to you to
help us continue Changing Lives.
