Laurel County Judge Executive David Westerfield works closely with Thompson in recruiting businesses to the area .
" We have a lot of interest from larger businesses , wanting to come here to London ," he said . " We get calls every day . Our community is growing . We ' re starting a new industrial park and looking at new industry and businesses coming in ."
In order to move with a growing community , community leaders are ensuring that the infrastructure can meet the demands .
" We ' ve upgraded water and sewer — anything we need to do to make things better for the county ," Westerfield said . " We are so fortunate to be in the crossroads of KY 80 and I-75 . That ' s a mainstream for the community that will hopefully bring even more businesses to the area ."
While most of the nation is suffering due to the economy and rising costs , London and Laurel County remain a site where businesses want to locate .
