In addition to creating community jobs in their expanding facility , the growth of the business will also lead to the growth of other businesses in the area .
“ They are drawing other new businesses to the area ,” White said . “ There will be off shoots from that expansion . There will be a lot of freight moving out of that facility and that will bring business to the truck stops and other local businesses . That ’ s a big win for a small community and we ’ re excited to have them .”
The first section of the Firestone Industrial Products expansion is nearing completion , according to White and construction on the second phase at the Old State Highway garage is underway .
Last year also saw the opening of The Mint Gaming Hall , Cumberland and brought around 100 jobs to the area . The attraction features more than 400 gaming machines , with onsite food and drink options as well as live entertainment .
