Continuum Architects & Planners for the award and outlined the following results from the master plan :
• Milwaukee Recreation ’ s equitable investment of over $ 40 million over the past five years to improve its outdoor recreation spaces .
• Enlisting the support of six landscape architecture firms and 30 landscape architects to work on these projects .
Paige Bernhardt , landscape designer in Ayres ’ Eau Claire office , received the Chapter Service Award in recognition of “ exemplary service on chapter boards and committees ” – primarily for her work building a new , userfriendly website for the chapter .
Bernhardt ’ s other volunteer work with the chapter includes :
• Serving on the Tellers Committee to tabulate and approve election results .
• Serving on the Planning Committee to organize events .
• Serving on the student awards jury that recognizes students in the landscape architecture program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison .
• Volunteering to chair the Membership Committee .
• Joining the Board of Directors this fall .
DEVELOPMENT SERVICES DIVISION PROMOTIONS
Matt Ashby has been promoted to vice president of Ayres ’ Development Services Division . Ashby has taken a leading role in growing Ayres ’ integrated planning , environmental , and landscape architecture services since he joined the firm in 2015 .
Ashby has years of leadership experience from his previous employment as director of the City of Cheyenne ’ s Planning Services Department , where he was responsible for 30 + team members . He ’ s grown our Development Services West operations from a staff of one to now eight full-time staff . Ashby will continue that growth in the West , as well as nurturing our upstart planning and landscape architecture operations in Florida . In the Midwest , Ashby plans to help the environmental , landscape architecture , and planning services become a truly integrated team for development innovation .
Educated at the University of Colorado , Ashby holds dual master ’ s degrees in urban design and urban and regional planning and a bachelor ’ s degree in environmental design . He holds planning and urban design certifications from the American Institute of Certified Planners .
Keely Campbell was promoted to manager of the Midwest group of the Development Services Division . Campbell previously worked as a geologist and project manager and more recently as a business development strategist focusing on identifying and pursuing opportunities for Ayres ’ landscape architecture , urban planning , and brownfield redevelopment experts , as well as on funding strategy and grant writing .
Campbell ’ s new position is a natural outgrowth of that work , as she will oversee the continued growth of the Midwest group as Ayres brings its environmental , planning , landscape architecture , and economic development professionals into close collaboration with each other to provide clients with innovative solutions that sustainably build our communities .
Campbell holds a bachelor ’ s degree in geological sciences from Florida State University and is a registered professional geologist in Wisconsin . She has shown her initiative and her commitment to her profession through her involvement in the Wisconsin Downtown Action Council Board of Directors , Downtown Madison Inc .’ s Economic Development and Quality of Life Committees , and the Association for Women Geoscientists ’ Brunton Award Committee .
Christina Hiegel was promoted to manager of the Western group of Ayres ’ Development Services Division . Hiegel has over 20 years of experience as a civil / environmental engineer , data quality expert , project manager , and more recently as a business development specialist , focusing on identifying opportunities where our brownfield redevelopment strategists , economic developers , urban planners , and landscape architects can put their skills to use for clients with environmental and planning challenges needing creative solutions .
Since joining Ayres in 2021 , Hiegel has quickly become a critical catalyst in the division ’ s success in attracting new clients in the West and assisting them with innovative solutions that sustainably build their communities . With 19 previous years in the trenches on environmental monitoring and remediation projects , Hiegel has a solid understanding of environmental regulations and compliance and is well-networked with regulatory officials in the West and nationwide . At Ayres , she has integrated planning and funding assistance into projects that start as environmental challenges and end as beautifully executed redevelopment opportunities . Hiegel helped communities win over $ 900,000 in funding in 2021 .
