New VP named
in Colorado
Rex Bell has joined Ayres
Associates as vice president
of Colorado operations. Bell
has more than 35 years of
experience providing project
management, financial
expertise, and operations
leadership for engineering consulting work
around the world.
Throughout his career, Bell has demonstrated
success with taking on complex issues. With his
communication and team-building skills, Bell
will pursue growth and diversification for Ayres’
Colorado- and Wyoming-based operations,
which have been serving the western United
States since 1967.
Bell, formerly a senior vice president with a large
international engineering firm, has extensive
national and international experience in a
variety of markets, including natural resources;
energy; water; infrastructure; and services for
local, state, and federal agencies. Among his
demonstrated areas of expertise are project
management, client service, enterprise risk
management, mergers and acquisitions,
contracts, and leadership of diverse teams.
Wisconsin survey managers named
Two new managers were recently named to help
guide Ayres Associates’ growing land survey
staff. Ryan Beltrand is taking on management of
the company’s northern Midwest survey group
in Wisconsin, consisting of Green Bay and Eau
Claire staff, and Nathan Vaughn will manage
Ayres’ southern Midwest survey group, based in
the Madison and Waukesha, Wisconsin, offices.
The survey group has experienced growth, with
26 staff currently and plans for more in 2019.
Beltrand, who has been
with Ayres for 14 years, is
a registered professional
land surveyor in Wisconsin,
Illinois, New Mexico, and
Texas. He has put in over
10,000 hours on USH 41
corridor surveys in northeast
Wisconsin and thousands more for counties and
municipalities in the region. Previously holding
the titles of project manager and supervisor
of Ayres’ Green Bay and Waukesha survey
operations, he holds a bachelor’s degree in
land surveying from Michigan Technological
University, and he is enrolled in the American
Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Future
Leaders Institute.
Vaughn is a registered
professional land surveyor
with 15 years of experience.
He has spent 12 years in
the consulting industry
and previously served
as WisDOT’s Southeast
Region consultant survey
data coordinator. He
has extensive experience on WisDOT work,
including numerous survey master contracts
and individual right-of-way plat contracts. He is
a certified Civil 3D trainer for survey and plats.
Vaughn holds a bachelor’s degree in geography
with an environmental studies minor from the
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and is a
graduate of the ACEC Future Leaders Institute.
Traffic engineering
manager named
Kevin Kuhlow was recently named manager
of Ayres Associates’ traffic engineering group,
supervising traffic staff who provide traffic
analysis and engineering services around the
nation from multiple offices.
Kuhlow has been involved
with developing hundreds
of roundabouts throughout
North America since 2000,
ranging from single-lane
roundabouts to complex
three-lane roundabouts.
He also has been actively
involved in developing
VISSIM micro-simulation models for operational
results and for use during public information
meetings. He is highly skilled in providing
roundabout education and has extensive
experience working with agencies, communities,
and the public to gain acceptance for challenging
roundabout projects.
