Scott Wilson, PSS
Scott Wilson, PSS, has been promoted to vice president of
Wisconsin Environmental Services. He leads 18 professionals in
Ayres Associates’ Eau Claire, Madison, and Waukesha offices.
Wilson has managed the Madison environmental services group
since 1996 and in 2008 added the Eau Claire environmental
services group to his management responsibilities. AN EMPLOYEE-OWNED COMPANY
In recent years, the environmental services group has written
and received on their clients’ behalf more than $24.5 million in
brownfield redevelopment grants and loans. This funding has

Wilson joined Ayres Associates in 1988. He has a master’s degree in soil science
and forestry and a bachelor’s degree in soil science, both from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. He is licensed as a professional soil scientist in Wisconsin.
Wilson is a standing appointed member of the Wisconsin Department of Natural
Resources Brownfield Study Group.

Susan Leith, PG, has been named manager of corporate
marketing. She directs an 11-member staff that supports Ayres
Associates’ 14 offices with electronic and print marketing
materials of all types.

Leith joined Ayres Associates in 1990 as a hydrogeologist in the
waste management division and joined the marketing staff in
2000 as a business development specialist in the Eau Claire
office. While managing the marketing group, Leith will continue
to work closely in business development with operations staff.
Her focus is on municipal, utility, and health care services.
Leith continues to maintain her license as a registered professional geologist in
Minnesota and Wisconsin. She holds a bachelor’s degree in geology from the
University of Wisconsin-River Falls and is completing an additional marketing
degree. She is a member of the Society for Marketing Professional Services,
National Association of State Dam Safety Officials, Wisconsin Rural Water
Association, Wisconsin Healthcare Engineering Association, Wisconsin Hospital
Association, and other professional and trade organizations.
Atlanta Inspections: In September 2009, rain started falling in the Atlanta area – and
didn’t stop for days, exceeding the 100-year flood mark. With much of the metro
area submerged, Michael Ayo, principal engineer for the City’s Department of
Public Works, had to find a qualified team to inspect the safety of many of the
affected structures. The City of Atlanta had 85 bridges and 130 culverts that needed
inspecting fast. Emergency inspections were an essential first step to getting aid and
resources to flood-affected areas.
David Estes, manager of Ayres Associates’ Atlanta office, knew the firm’s inspection
team had plenty of experience with emergency response inspections and could get
the job done quickly. He contacted the City, offering Ayres Associates’ services.
Within two hours, contracts were being written, staff schedules for the week were
being shuffled, and inspectors from several offices were on their way to Atlanta.
