Goodwin said his design idea could not have come to fruition without the help of his colleagues Joe Bluma , a structural engineer , and Todd Rudolph , a water resources engineer . “ Joe and Todd did all the structural design on this project ,” he said .
He further credits Icon Constructors LLC of Minnesota for putting his plans into reality . “ The construction went really well ,” he said . “ They were great to work with .”
Goodwin also credits Lanesboro ’ s residents and City officials , particularly for their patience while Ayres worked through the tremendous amount of regulatory review involved in a project of this complex and historic nature .
“ The City really gave us the latitude to conduct this project as we really needed to do it ,” he said .
Peterson assures that Lanesboro residents consider the time and effort put into the dam ’ s restoration to be well justified in light of the end result .
“ I think this was absolutely a unique project ,” she said . “ We had some bumps along the way , that ’ s for sure . But we were able to work through them and now we have something great to show for it . I think what Ayres came up with was a great solution ; it was the best compromise possible .
