She said that adding sidewalk along County Road 18 – a project undertaken at the County’s request – more than met their primary goal of providing enhanced facilities for users. “The project now provides a smooth concrete surface for pedestrians and bicyclists,” Rhoden said. “We are happy with the outcome of the final project.” DIVERSITY KEEPS TASKS INTERESTING Myers said he’s enjoyed the variety of projects the contract has brought – and the engineering involved in finding solutions to their individual issues. “You have to put a sidewalk into an existing right-of-way and not impact the drainage, not impact the utilities, not impact the wetlands … You pretty much have to put a square peg into a round hole, and it has to fit,” Myers said. “You go through several iterations at the beginning. Every one of them is different, and it just depends on the certain situation.” TRENDS │15
