Perspectives The Wisconsin Department of Administration presented the Division of State Facilities (DSF) Excellence in Engineering Design award to Ayres Associates for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Steam Loop project constructed in 2010. The DSF retained Ayres Associates to provide design and construction assistance for a new steam and condensate loop from upper to lower campus at the university, replacement of existing steam and condensate lines between two buildings on lower campus, and replacement of piping through one building on lower campus. The loop carries steam from the upper campus heating plant and returns condensed water back to the heating plant. “I don’t recall ever constructing a $3 million project on campus without receiving a single complaint from my clientele,” said Terry Classen, director of facilities management at UW-Eau Claire. “That can be attributed to the thorough planning work upfront from Ayres.” Angi Goodwin, PE, a civil engineer in Eau Claire, was the project manager. “Angi has successfully performed for an agency that has specific expectations and challenging schedules,” said Disa Wahlstrand, manager of municipal services in Eau Claire. “This award is a true credit to her client management skills and the performance of her project teams.” AN EMPLOYEE-OWNED COMPANY 3433 Oakwood Hills Parkway Eau Claire, WI 54701 715.834.3161 www.AyresAssociates.com Editorial Staff: Eric Widholm, Wendy Kinderman, Kate Boupha, Jason Sweet, and Tawny Quast Graphic Designer: Sarah Howe-Halvorson Manager – Marketing: Susan Leith ©2011 Ayres Associates Inc Phoenix, Arizona 602.275.2655 Denver, Colorado 303.938.8874 At its annual conference held in February, the Wisconsin Land Information Association (WLIA) presented Kirk Contrucci, CP, vice president of geospatial services, with the 2011 Outstanding Contribution Award.
