When your site has a beautiful outlook,
you’ll want your home to take full advan-
tage of it. For this site, MU Architecture
designed a slender cabin, with full height
glazing along one side to open all the
rooms to the lake views – including the
master bedroom and bathroom.
The master suite is positioned at the
far end of the run of rooms, as private as
possible from other areas of the home.
And that privacy isn’t compromised by
the large expanse of windows – recessed
blinds installed in the ceiling throughout

the house can be lowered when required.
For the owners, the master bathroom
needed to be more than a utilitarian space.
They wanted it to operate more like a
living space and be a room in which they
could comfortably spend quality time.
To achieve this, the sculptural free-
standing bath tub was positioned directly
in front of the window, so the view could
be fully enjoyed while bathing. Similarly,
the large double shower is positioned to
make the most of the view.
The owners also travel frequently and
wanted their master bathroom to be of the
quality of those in the hotels they stay in.
The selection of materials contrib-
utes to this sense of luxury. Rather than
using marble, which may stain and needs
ongoing maintenance, MU Architecture
specified Neolith Statuario for the master
bath walls and floors.
These large format porcelain panels
replicate the look of Estatuario marble but
are easy to maintain. Here, they were also
laid out to give the bookmatched effect
that can be achieved with natural marble.
