DRILLING TOOLS DRILLING TOOLS DRILLING TOOL GRADES High Speed Steel Tooling Produced entirely in HSS, ground with SPEED aHIGH very fine edge. Suitable only for non-abrasive STEEL materials, but will give a superior finish in soft timbers. HSS is slightly less expensive than TCT, but can be more suitable for certain applications i.e. drilling or cutting non-abrasive timbers and plastics. HSS Our range of drilling tools include: twist drills, dowel drills, countersinks, counterbores, plug makers, machine bits and forstner bits. l l Grades and sizes are geared to satisfy the demanding needs of the building industry, joinery trades and workshops. High quality and performance are the prime considerations in the design of our tooling which is manufactured using the latest technology. Tungsten Carbide Tipped Tooling Tips are brazed onto a steel body. Designed for use with the most abrasive materials and will outlast HSS tooling by many times. Applications are used for cutting or drilling natural timbers, plywood, medium density fibre board, chipboard and abrasive plastics. TCT TUNGSTEN CARBIDE TIPPED Carbon Steel Tooling Less durable than HSS, WS is extensively CARBON used in the production of forstner and countersink STEEL tooling for use on natural timbers. Offers a cost effective solution for many applications. WS SLOW SPIRAL TWIST DRILLS Slow spiral is sometimes preferred for drilling end grain in wood. Ideal for fast drilling operations in open grained material. l l ! COUNTERSINK SETS See page 207 for full details. These drills are not for use with routers and not suitable for masonry work. This tool should be used in a standing drill press, mill, lathe or a CNC drilling machine. The wide choice of removable knives (not supplied) allow a variety of rosette patterns to be created in medium density fibreboard (MDF). The shank is 1/2” in diameter with three flats for non-slip. Knives with outside spurs can be used to cut the rosette free to form a button. Ref. RDT/10 Ref. RDT/10 is shown as a full profile (actual size).
