Notify Change of Address :
• Post Office
• Charge Accounts
• Credit Cards
• Subscriptions
Things to Remember :
• Transfer banking to new city
• Notify insurance companies of new address : Fire , Auto , Life , and Health
• Notify utility companies of ending date of service . Request refund of deposits .
• Discontinue / change laundry and newspaper service
Things to Consider :
• Defrost refrigerator
• TV and cable connections
• Clean carpets
• Check with the moving company
• Children ready for the move ?
• How will pets travel ?
• Check with Dept . of Agriculture if there are restrictions on plants you plan to take to a new state .
• Ask doctors and dentists for referrals
• Check on pet licensing / health requirements
On the “ Big Day ”:
• Carry Travelers Checks
• Notify someone of itinerary / schedule
• Be sure all closets and drawers are empty
• Leave keys with realtor , for new owner
At Your Destination :
• Have certified check or cashiers check for closing real estate transaction .
• Request that service begin for all utilities
• Register children in school
• Record necessary changes on driver ’ s license or apply for a new driver ’ s license
• Register auto according to new state ’ s law
