The Treasure Cost Senior All Star Baseball Classic is named after Mike Picano, Sr., a fixture within the local sports scene for decades.

Picano was the longtime owner of Varsity Sports Shop in downtown Fort
Pierce but is perhaps best known as a coach and educator having spent
almost 40 years in the classrooms at Lincoln Park Academy, St. Lucie Junior High School, Fort Pierce Central and Port St. Lucie High School as a
business and on the job training teacher.
He coached baseball at John Carroll, guiding the school to its first ever
District Title in 1972 and was actively involved in Babe Ruth baseball,
where he lead his team to a World Series, played slow pitch softball and
served as president of the Treasure Coast Gator Club.
