you to Courtney Jo Kunselman, a young woman who is simply top notch. Courtney has lived her entire life in Treasure Lake with her parents Scott and Brenda Kunselman, and her twin brother Isaac. Courtney is a Senior at DuBois Area High School and is currently ranked 1st in her class out of 297 students. She is a very focused young lady, who puts forth 100 percent in everything she does.
Courtney keeps herself very involved in school, her community, and extra curricular activities. In school, she is a the Secretary of the National Honor Society, Captain of both the girls' soccer team and girls' track and field team and is experienced as both a class officer and a member of Student Council. Courtney has also spent many hours volunteering as a mentor for Big Brothers & Big Sisters. One thing that is also highly important to Courtney is her faith and dedication to her church community. She is a delegate for youth ministry, a vacation bible school volunteer and has even done some missions work.
This past December, Courtney received some very exciting news. After a year long process of application, fitness testing and interviews, Courtney received nominations from both Senator Pat Toomey and Representative Glenn Thompson to attend The United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She will be leaving in June for her post secondary education and would like to eventually have a career in intelligence. Courtney has many things to look forward to and a very bright future ahead of her. If you would happen to see Courtney taking a jog around the lake, stop and wish her good luck and tell her how proud our Treasure Lake community is of her and her accomplishments.
Hello! My name is Jennifer Buskirk and I am proud to say that I I am a teacher and even prouder to say that I am a teacher at DuBois Area High School. After spending the past 23 years in education, I have never understood why people have always told me that I must be crazy for wanting to teach at a high school. My response to them has always been and continues to be " I love teenagers". I cannot tell you that educating teenagers is always an easy job, but it is sure one that I love. Over the years, I have often wondered why adolescents have such a bad reputation in our world. It is a shame that the bad things we hear about adolescents tend to overlook the good things they do. I can look around in my classroom daily and see many bright and inspiring young people and it will be my privilege to share some of them with you over the next several months.
