Workshops for the elderly
Another recommendation that was derived from the discussions was the
engagement of the older generation, to promote adoption of digital practices
and the use of mobile applications. Workshops can be conducted to educate
them on the tools and services that they are missing out on, and to provide
skills training.
Participants also suggested that in conducting such workshops, the younger
generation should also be involved as facilitators. The youth should attend the
workshops with an older loved one. This way the young can teach the old and
personally guide them through the workshop. Participants felt that by doing so,
the older generation may be more willing to overcome their reluctance, and
be more willing to learn from their loved ones. The efficacy of these
workshops can be measured by getting the elderly participants to use an e-
platform to provide feedback or through phone calls.
