ENTREPRENEURSHIP Recommendations Expectations of entrepreneurship programs Participants want clear and informed guidance on the basics of entrepreneurship such as how to start a business, what tools are required, encountering practical problems and solving them. They also want information on current industrial and market needs. Programs should also present the real struggles entrepreneurs face using both successful and unsuccessful cases to juxtapose as well as motivate. A clearly framed mentorship program with opportunities to network with peers as well as industry experts would also be beneficial. Participants want more workshops such as Vanigavettai, which they are looking forward to. They want the camp activities to mirror realistic entrepreneurial scenarios. They also want networking and job-shadowing opportunities in order to learn from industry experts as well as fellow aspiring entrepreneurs. Moreover, they want symposiums featuring angel investors (seed investors providing initial funding in return for equity). Post Vanigavettai Participants can be interviewed about their experiences through Vanigavettai in order to ascertain what they learned as well as to gain feedback on the program. This can be made into a video series to be documented and shared as part of an evaluation of the program’s outcomes. Note: Vanigavettai (Be Your Own Boss) is a program co-organised by Tamil Representative Council Youth Wing (TRCYW) and NTU Tamil Literary Society (NTU TLS) with the aim to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit among youth and groom confident entrepreneurs.
