ARTS & LANGUAGE Recommendations The development of a one stop online interface for information about Tamil events To address these communication issues within the arts scene as well as the lack of information being conveyed to audiences, it is proposed that an interface with both an events calendar and a review page is developed. It is envisioned that this interface is not restricted to organise and review only happenings in the arts scene but for other Tamil events such as seminars and dialogue sessions as well. The events calendar primarily aims to assist organisers in the scheduling of events. It also serves as a page of reference, to make audiences aware of upcoming events that are happening currently. To ensure the efficacy of this page the Tamil events calendar has to be regularly updated so that it is accepted as a reliable source. Garnering the support of production companies like Avant Theatre & Language then, is of great importance. The reach of this events calendar is measured through the number of views by users and the reduction in clashes of events. The review page will consist of two parts, the pre-review and the post review. In partnership with production companies, we can give access to selected reviewers to watch plays or performances during dry runs to write pre-reviews. These pre-reviews could be used to publicise the plays. Then audiences can make informed decisions about attending or purchasing tickets. Practical Assessment: Rank 3 (Difficult) 16 The lack of a channel of communication between professional show and performance organisers coupled with insufficient advertising has occasionally lead to clashes in event timings. Additionally, through the ground survey (figure 2), it was discovered that most youth are unaware about the happenings in the Tamil performance arts scene.
