Volunteering at my children’s elementary school, I realized firsthand how important
it is to share enthusiasm for sustainability. As a sustainability coordinator, I have
worked with the Park Ten Houston office to lower the use of consumables, such as
replacing the disposable plastic forks, knives and spoons in our break room and
decreasing paper and ink usage. At TRC, we recognize that sustainability is not
a destination, but a journey where the culmination of all our small steps will make
significant impacts.

I work with multifamily customers to retrofit their properties with energy efficient,
demand response and distributed energy resources. I also lead a project to institute
a strategic energy management plan with a landfill, recycling and composting
organization to identify cost-effective GHG emissions through strategic electrification
and distributed energy resources. My work with TRC is focused on transforming both
building energy consumption and transportation energy consumption.

My perception of what sustainability encompasses has changed as I have
come to realize today it means much more than just reducing emissions.
Sustainability is important to many and we are seeing a large increase in
the importance of sustainability in our clients, including clients looking at
TRC’s efforts.

As an office Sustainability Coordinator for TRC, I want to be connected to the
momentum that is building around the sustainability movement, and I want to feel
optimistic about the future of our planet. This opportunity allows me to spread the
corporate wide initiatives to the local level and create an impact in our Lakewood,
Colorado office. Working with a group of like-minded individuals across the TRC
offices is motivating when you hear how the different offices are implementing the
sustainability initiatives. Brainstorming and working together to come up with ideas
that will allow us to tackle challenges we face in the industry is a rewarding aspect
of my work.
