Whether improving existing infrastructure or building new projects, TRC understands the need to advance connectivity, community livability and environmental stewardship. From design, construction, inspection and maintenance, to repairing or replacing key assets, TRC delivers sustainable solutions that support our nation’s vital infrastructure networks. Advancing Active Transportation Transforming Energy Infrastructure TRC was selected by the County of Greenville to provide preliminary design and assessment of 11 locations for pedestrian bridges or tunnels associated with a major 4.5-mile planned expansion of Greenville’s hugely popular Swamp Rabbit Trail. The trail represents a nearly 20-mile- long, multi-use greenway system north of the City of Greenville that follows the path of an abandoned rail line and is enjoyed by more than 500,000 users a year. TRC was retained by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) as prime contractor, providing engineering, procurement, demolition, disposal and site remediation services for the dismantling and removal of four decommissioned generating units at the Haynes Generating Station in Long Beach, CA. The project will support LADWP’s Clean Grid L.A. initiative, which calls for achieving 100 percent renewables by 2045 and a carbon neutral power portfolio by 2050. It will also help California reach its goal of 60 percent clean electricity by 2030. When the demolition and remediation is complete, the Haynes site will have more than nine acres of space available to accommodate energy storage solutions and other clean grid initiatives. The planned expansion south of the City is a highly anticipated project among county residents and local tourists, and is envisioned to spur additional office, retail and residential development in the area. The expansion project supports the objectives of the Trails and Greenway’s Master Plan, which encourages physical activity, promotes safe and sustainable transportation, stimulates economic growth and helps to protect environmental quality of open spaces and creek and river corridors. 16 2019 Sustainability Report “California is at the vanguard of renewable energy, and TRC is excited to help lay the groundwork for further expansion of the clean grid in Los Angeles,” Mark Robbins, president of TRC’s Environmental Sector.
