Fiscal 2016 was a transformative year for TRC. In November 2015, we acquired the Willbros Professional Services( WPS) business and fully integrated it under very difficult market conditions. Through the acquisition, we created a company with an unrivaled capability to address all phases of the pipeline and related Oil and Gas facility project life cycles. Our skills cover the full spectrum from initial concept consulting, through permitting, design, engineering, construction management and operations— including integrity management services.
We are optimistic about the long-term growth prospects for all parts of our business and our ability to provide end-to-end services in key market sectors served. The shift in energy mix to natural gas and renewables, growth in energy efficiency technologies, investment in resilient infrastructure, and development of smart technologies all provide opportunities for TRC to help our clients manage risk and create value in a rapidly evolving world. Whether designing microgrids to reshape the electric grid, implementing remedial strategies for emerging contaminants, or supporting pipeline integrity via our Integralink geospatial tool, we are responding with impactful results upon which our clients can rely.
This report builds on our 2014 Sustainability Report and highlights points of progress from Fiscal Years 2015 and 2016. Our ongoing efforts as a sustainable business include the following key objectives:
> > Embracing our clients’ goals through project design, performance, execution and delivery; > > Deepening our employee engagement culture through active implementation of our sustainability strategy; and > > Reducing our operational footprint, with focus on energy consumption, emissions, material inputs and waste.
To advance these objectives, we recently issued our 2020 sustainability targets focusing on what matters and where it matters. We also launched our Sustainability Coordinator Network to increase employee engagement in our program and now have 40 coordinators working within their offices and regions.
Our new five-year strategy plan, to be rolled out later this year, is focused on positioning TRC as the Company of Choice. Clients hire us due to our reputation for innovation and the effective ways we execute their complex projects. We take pride in that and are investing in our people and our technologies to deliver for the future. We aspire to be the best place to work in our industry and the destination of choice for the most talented professionals.
