BUSINESS TRAVEL – FLEET MANAGEMENT Our employees regularly travel to client sites and project locations, therefore, business travel constitutes another significant portion of our footprint. Emissions associated with personal vehicles, air travel, rental cars, etc. are not yet tracked; but we do track fleet vehicle use and efficiency. G4-EN30 FY14 Fleet Metrics Distance (Miles) 4,371,781 Emissions (Metric Tons C02) 2,726 Kilograms of C02 per mile 0.62 Sustainable Fleet Strategy 4. Fuel Efficient Driving We also established new vehicle replacement guidelines in FY14 which included mechanisms for targeting more fuel efficient vehicles and working with our lease partners to maximize fuel efficiency. We encourage replacing vehicles on a frequency cycle that ensures our vehicles are operating as efficiently as possible while limiting maintenance costs which can rise with older vehicles. From our fuel usage we are able to track our GHG emissions. In FY14, the fleet emitted 0.62 kilograms of CO2 per mile traveled. In the future, we will use CO2 emissions per mile (kilograms of CO2 per mile) as a tracking metric for the fleet. 1. Data Insight 5. Vehicle Maintenance In FY14, TRC maintained a fleet of over 300 cars, vans, trucks, and sport utility vehicles (SUVs). In FY14, we gathered baseline data on many metrics for the fleet, including the total miles driven and fuel usage. 2. Fleet Utilization 3. Smart Vehicle Purchasing In order to reach our 2020 goal of reducing CO2 emissions per mile by 10%, we will be pursuing a five pronged strategy focused on: • tracking appropriate metrics, • optimizing fleet vehicle usage, • implementing new vehicle replacement guidelines to cycle in more fuel effi• • cient vehicles, promoting best practices to reduce vehicle idling time and encourage efficient driving habits, and ensuring timely vehicle maintenance. The fleet CO2 emissions, along with those associated with our building energy usage, are discussed further in the following section. FY14 Target Achieved: Establish baseline in FY14 for fleet vehicle miles traveled for business. FY15 Target: Decrease CO2 emissions per mile by 10% by 2020 for TRC fleet. 54 | 2014 Sustainability Report
