TRC Supports BP’s Earth Day Outreach Fair
TRC was invited by BP’s Global Business Services HSSE Manager to participate
in their outreach fair for Earth Day 2014 in Warrenville, IL. For the event, TRC
developed an interactive game to help participants learn about how to reduce
waste through reuse and recycling. Throughout the event, the TRC booth saw
a steady stream of people – all engaging enthusiastically with the hands-on
game, collaborating in ad-hoc teams. The game sparked discussion and was
a jumping-off point for everyone to rethink their own consumption, reuse, and
recycling habits.
FREEZIN’ FOR A REASON WITH BNSF RAILWAY
On Saturday, March 2nd, TRC’s Bill James and Chris Harvey proved that
they will do almost anything to keep their clients happy by joining BNSF
Railway as they plunged into the icy waters of Lake Calhoun for Minnesota’s
annual Polar Bear Plunge.
In its 16th year, the Polar Bear Plunge raised over $1.1 million for the Minnesota Special Olympics—with more than $25,000 of those funds raised by
the 40 members of the BNSF Railway team.
BNSF’s Manager of Environmental Remediation, Greg Jeffries, was impressed by TRC’s dedication, and even more impressed by Bill’s willingness
to leave sunny, 78° California and travel to 23° Minnesota for the event.
“They raised $1,150 for Special Olympics—donated in the name of BNSF—
and took a Saturday away from their families to show their support,” says
Jeffries. “I think that speaks volumes of the quality caliber of a service
partner they are.”
The lake was so cold that ice had to be continually removed from the surface to accommodate the jumpers. Although Bill says it was the coldest he’s
ever been, he and Chris have both promised to return to the plunge again
next winter.
