The Heart of South America
Deep within the emerald canopies of South America ’ s forests , transcending beyond the tranquil Chaco , lies a nation in the heart of South America . A nation characterized by its nineteen distinct indigenous communities , each with a rich cultural heritage spanning several centuries ( IWGIA 1 ). Sprouting from each of the nineteen indigenous communities in Paraguay comes a dialect , dialects that are frequently spoken during day-to-day life . Nine in every ten Paraguayans speak an indigenous language ( Romero 1 ). Yet this all lies in danger as Paraguay ’ s indigenous heritage slips away as each generation passes , going into a rapid nosedive to the deep caverns of forgotten history .
