The Albirroja

Sitting in the living room of my home , my body was flushed with jittery enthusiasm as I turned on the TV . The yellow shade from the sunset contemplated that Thursday afternoon , hot and humid as the Tigo Sports broadcaster narrated the preview for the game .

Through the blinds , outside , in the barbecue area , the purest expression of national pride unfolded as my 15-year-old brother and his friends were more eager for the start of the game than a person is on the eve of their birthday .
