The road disappeared quickly in Romania’ s Carpathian Mountains, and for six days the world of the BMW Motorrad GS Trophy was reduced to mud, gravel, riverbeds, steep climbs and narrow mountain trails. Thirty riders from 13 nations covered around 1,500 kilometres, pushing themselves and their BMW R 12 G / S machines through one of the event’ s toughest editions yet, where endurance, navigation and teamwork mattered as much as riding ability. With the final challenges going right down to the wire, Team Germany ultimately claimed the men’ s title, while Team Europe took the women’ s crown – proving once again that the GS Trophy was about far more than simply getting to the finish first.
