Nepal has endured more than its share of tragedy, and 2026 has brought another devastating chapter, from the catastrophic August landslides and flooding to the destructive monsoon floods that followed in September. Yet behind the headlines and images of destruction is a country of remarkable resilience, where tourism provides a vital lifeline for thousands of ordinary people. Having ridden Nepal’ s roads several times, we know firsthand the warmth of its people and the importance of the connections made there. Sometimes, supporting a place means more than sending help from afar; when it is safe and welcome to do so, it means going back.
