The window for exploring Tibet by motorbike is narrow due to the altitude. Passes become snow, and ice, free in April; warm clothing is essential at night and in the morning. In May and June, rainfall increases, and the mountains are often shrouded in clouds, but temperatures rise. After the monsoon, the weather is pleasant from mid-September to mid-October; thereafter, it turns bitterly cold.
