participants, as well as countless service providers, decided to observe an official day of mourning. The second stage was therefore suspended.
The highlight of the third stage was the crossing of Lake Tuz, a dry salt lake in the mountains of Central Anatolia with a hard, salt-crusted surface. Lake Tuz is the second largest lake in Türkiye with an area of 1,665 km ² and one of the largest saltwater lakes in the world.
The dry and crusted surface offered all participants a unique and unforgettable riding experience. The light conditions were reflective, everything in the surroundings was snow-white, the temperature was visibly high, and the air was noticeably salty. This made the salt lake dangerous for both people and vehicles in every respect.
Speed was the key to success here, rather than navigation, at least on the lake. Full throttle was the order of the day. Nevertheless, it was also important to build up enough momentum in the right place and to have solid navigation skills.
Cappadocia is undoubtedly one of the most popular tourist destinations in Türkiye, as well as one of the most unusual landscapes in the world. That ' s one reason to stay for two nights and camp on a plateau among the many mountains. It ' s well worth it and is one of the highlights of the TransAnatolia every year.
