poetic beauty. The Sidi M ' Cid Bridge stretched across the awe-inspiring gorges carved by the Rhummel stream, linking the majestic Casbah to the hill of Sidi M ' Cid.
Further south, the ancient Roman city of Timgad emerged, where the arch dedicated to Emperor Trajan soared above the perfectly aligned streets, its ruins whispering tales of theatres, temples, and homes that were once vibrant. Nearby Khenchela had offered its timeless Roman baths, their serene waters seemingly defying the passage of millennia to bring joy and healing to modern visitors. Beyond these historical gems, we had been enchanted by the natural marvels, such as the Ghoufi Canyon, its depths carved by the Oued Abiod River into the Aurès Mountains. Along the canyon floor, the verdant embrace of palms, orchards, and gardens stood in striking contrast to the crimson remains of ancient Berber stone houses perched upon sedimentary cliffs.
With each passing mile, the journey unfolded like a symphony. Biskra, Djelfa, and El Bayadh marked the approach toward the Moroccan border, a line sadly sealed by tumultuous relations.
