Continental’ s Strongest Off-road Motorcycle Tyre
Continental has unveiled the TKC 80 2, the longawaited successor to its legendary TKC 80 tyre, setting a new benchmark for the travel enduro and adventure motorcycling market. Arriving four decades after the original, this second-generation TKC promises a refined balance between on-road performance and off-road capability – engineered for the growing number of riders seeking adventure beyond the tarmac.
Developed from the ground up, the TKC 80 2 features a completely new tread pattern with larger, repositioned blocks and additional contact edges that enhance mechanical grip and improve self-cleaning in mud, sand and gravel. The front tyre’ s downward-sloping tread blocks increase braking traction off-road, while the reversed block layout on the rear provides optimal drive and acceleration. With a larger contact patch, the tyre also delivers improved stability and control, especially on long-distance journeys.
Continental says the new carcass construction has been tuned for a true 50 / 50 balance between road and off-road use, delivering better damping, comfort and stability even when fully loaded or at high speeds. The new rubber compound – supported by Continental’ s RainGrip technology – offers consistent traction across wet, dry and variable surfaces, along with improved wear resistance for extended touring.
“ The tyre tread combines maximum flexibility for safe wet grip with high block stiffness for stability and mechanical grip,” said Raphael Michels, Product Manager for Motorcycle Tyres at Continental.“ We’ ve worked intensively to resolve the conflict between on- and offroad performance in the best possible way.”
Positioned as the most capable off-road product in Continental’ s motorcycle tyre range, the TKC 80 2 also provides excellent puncture protection for riders tackling routes such as the Trans European Trail or North America’ s Backcountry Discovery Routes. It will be offered in four front sizes( 19 and 21 inches) and six rear sizes( 17 and 18 inches), making it suitable for adventure models from BMW, KTM, Honda, Yamaha and Ducati.“ With the TKC 80 2, we’ re setting new standards in versatility, robustness and performance,” said Christoph Ettenhuber, Head of Motorcycle Tyres at Continental.“ It gives adventure riders maximum safety, control and enjoyment across all terrains.”
The Continental TKC 80 2, distinguished by a new sidewall icon, will be available through Continental partners and specialist retailers from early 2026. Full specifications and technical information can be found at www. continental-tires. com / motorcycle.
