TRAVERSE 150
AMBITIOUS CHALLENGER
At the 2025 EICMA show in Milan, CFMOTO unveiled its most ambitious adventure-bike to date: the 1000 MT- X. Positioned as the flagship of its MT range, this model draws a clear line in the sand for the brand as it steps up into the large displacement adventure touring segment. Powering the 1000 MT-X is a 946.2 cc parallel-twin engine delivering around 111 hp( 83 kW) at 8,500 rpm and 105 Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm.
The engine has been designed with weight in mind— at just 56 kg for the power-unit, and a dry weight for the bike claimed at 199 kg, the aim is to deliver a machine that’ s serious in long-haul touring yet agile enough for varied terrain.
The fuel tank holds 22.5 litres and CFMOTO claims a range in excess of 450 km under mixed riding conditions, underlining their intention for this to be at home on big adventures, not just weekend rides.
Electronics and componentry appear equally ambitious: the bike features fully-adjustable KYB suspension, Brembo braking hardware, aerospace-grade alloy rims, Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres, and a Bosch 6-axis IMU controlling five ride modes, cornering ABS, traction control and more.
Standard fit items such as cruise control, quickshifter, heated grips and seat, adjustable handlebars and windscreen, and protective elements like a skid plate, chain guard and handguards all reinforce the adventurefocused intent.
From a design and ergonomics standpoint, CFMOTO has clearly targeted the“ go anywhere, do anything” rider. The seat height is quoted at 870 mm( with a lower-option version that trims seat height / suspension travel by about 40 mm).
The bike uses a 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear set-up, which is typical of machines that want to mix trail and road capability.
For riders in Australia, the 1000 MT-X arrives at a time when adventure bikes are not only expected to perform on sealed roads but to be credible when the tar runs out. CFMOTO’ s“ Leave No Place unXplored” ethos seems built into this model. While no Australian pricing or exact availability timeline has been confirmed yet, the EICMA launch signals that the business is serious about the segment.
Critically, this bike is a statement: CFMOTO wants to demonstrate that it can step beyond entryand-mid-capacity machines and compete in the big league of full-size adventure tourers. Whether the brand has the service / support network, resale footprint and rider perception to match its specification remains to be seen, but on paper the 1000 MT-X presents a compelling proposition.
In short: the 1000 MT-X blends long-haul touring capability, rugged mechanical kit and modern electronics into one package. For someone looking for an adventure motorcycle that covers everything from highway miles to gravel tracks, and who is open to buying a less-traditional brand, this could be one to watch closely— particularly as the full availability in Australia becomes clearer.
