BMW Motorrad has unveiled a new accessories package for its retro-styled roadster, the R 12 nineT, that channels the grit and swagger of American flat track racing into a road-legal street bike. Branded simply as“ The Tracker”, the kit reimagines the nineT’ s classic lines with cues from a motorsport discipline famed for broadside drifts, dirtoval showdowns, and stripped-back minimalism.
Flat track may have been born in the United States, but its influence has become global. Riders from Tokyo to Turin recognise the silhouette of those purpose-built dirt racers: stubby tails, bold number plates, and cockpits pared down to essentials. BMW’ s new kit seeks to bottle that energy, offering customers a way to transform their nineT into a machine that looks as if it has just stepped off a cinder oval and onto the street.
At the heart of The Tracker’ s design is a shortened, sporty rear section available in black or silver, complete with a minimalist license plate holder and integrated multifunction indicators. A small but purposeful cockpit fairing sits up front, balanced by a set of bold side number plates that frame the bike’ s midsection. To complete the effect, BMW offers a sticker kit for the lamp mask and plates, along with a 17-inch front wheel cover. The package is finished in BMW’ s Blackstorm Metallic, though riders are invited to personalise their machines further— the race numbers are left blank for customers to choose their own identity.
BMW stresses that while the inspiration is pure competition, the execution is fully homologated for the road. Every element is designed to bolt directly to the R 12 nineT without additional paperwork or registration, simplifying the path from dealership to street. Installation is recommended at authorised BMW Motorrad workshops, but the brand notes that the modularity of the package also allows components to be purchased individually and combined with other official accessories.
Visually, the Tracker treatment gives the nineT an unmistakable stance. From its crisp lines and short tail to its fairing and plates, the bike radiates dynamism even at a standstill. It’ s a look that pays homage to racing history while making a bold statement in modern urban settings.
The kit is available now to order worldwide starting and BMW Motorrad is clearly aiming it at riders who want their nineT to stand out from the mainstream. As the company puts it, the Tracker is less about following trends than about staking a claim: a nod to motorsport tradition with an uncompromising, street-ready edge.
