RUGGED STYLE MEETS OFF ROAD CAPABILITY

Triumph’ s new Scrambler 400 XC is here— and it’ s redefining what a mid-weight adventure bike can be.
Originally launched in India in May, the Scrambler 400 XC has now gone global, making its way to markets in North America and the UK starting September, with a US MSRP of $ 6,695— about $ 800 more than its road-focused cousin, the Scrambler 400 X
At its heart, the XC shares the same 398 cc liquidcooled single-cylinder engine found in Triumph’ s 400-class. It delivers a familiar 39.5 hp at 8,000 rpm and 27.7 lb‐ft of torque at 6,500 rpm— power that balances everyday usability with long-distance potential.
Under its rugged skin, the XC swaps the X’ s cast alloy wheels for lightweight tubeless wire-spoke wheels; 19 inch at the front and 17 on the rear, wrapped in Metzeler Karoo Street tyres for enhanced off-road capability. Triumph also adds a high-mounted front guard, a protective screen, engine bars, and a sturdy aluminium sump guard as standard.
The XC retains the same 43 mm USD Big Piston front forks and preload-adjustable rear monoshock, each offering 5.9 inches( 150 mm) of suspension travel. Braking is also carried over: a 320 mm front disc with four-piston radial calliper and 230 mm disc at the rear, both equipped with switchable ABS for on- and off-road confidence.
While the chassis geometry remains unchanged, the XC weighs in around 7 kilograms heavier than the X, mostly due to the added protective hardware and spoked wheels.
Triumph has dressed the XC in three bold new colours; Racing Yellow, Storm Grey, and Vanilla White, each accented by black tank infills and a two-piece seat design. A tinted screen and higher front mudguard complete the rugged, scrambler-inspired presence.
Styling pays homage to the brand’ s larger Scrambler 900 / 1200 models, blending classic cues with modern tech: LED DRL headlight, USB-C charging port, analogue speedo with integrated LCD, switchable traction control, and off-road ABS.
The 400 XC is positioned above the 400 X, aimed at riders seeking affordable, factory-ready off-road versatility.
In Australia, the $ 11,490( Vanilla White) sticker price emphasises Triumph’ s focus on accessible adventure. It also benefits from the brand’ s reassuring 16,000-kilometre service intervals and a 2-year unlimited mileage warranty, consistent with its 400-series offerings.
The Scrambler 400 XC isn’ t a radical reinvention, it’ s a calculated evolution of an already popular platform. With wire-spoked wheels, more off-road-ready hardware, and purposeful styling, it delivers genuine versatility while keeping rider-friendly ergonomics and performance intact.
Priced modestly above the X, the XC offers upgrades that translate into real-world utility for mixed-terrain riders. Whether you’ re exploring backroads, commuting through town, or heading out for weekend overnighters, it checks the boxes of capability, character, and cost.
In short: Triumph’ s Scrambler 400 XC proves that entrylevel adventure doesn’ t have to mean compromise. With thoughtful enhancements and sharp styling, it’ s a scrambler that really leans into its rugged heritage— ready for pavement today and trails tomorrow.
