We continued on the Hakataramea Pass, stopping at the highest point to take in the views, a chance to regroup as we made our way into Mackenzie country.
Accessing the Mackenzie Pass from the west is via the Mackenzie Pass Road from the Haldon Road, a short distance from the exit of the Hakataramea Pass Road. One heads up from the south whilst the other heads back to the east before turning to the north through a south passage, it all sounds convoluted but adds an element of interest to the ride.
