Not regarded as a major road Danseys Pass does still see a lot of traffic, the temptation to open up and have a bit of fun can often be met with a large four wheel drive or more coming straight at a rider, it’ s for this reason that the road is a major passage between Duntroon and the towns of Naseby and Ranfurly.
On this occasion we had no reason to stop at the famed pub, that marks either the start or finish of the pass road, it was closed, much to the disappointment of all riders. We rode on to find that next pass.
Our ride through the south island high country took us through private tracks and access roads. Names such as Te Aka Road in the Black Forest Station provided brilliant vistas and challenging courses, all part of adventure riding.
