TRAVERSE 44
2. Humility— Realising You Don’ t Know Everything( And That’ s OK)
Travel reminds you, over and over, that you’ re just a small part of a very big world. You meet people who live completely differently— often with less than you have— but with more joy, kindness, or creativity.
Travel also holds up a mirror to your own country. It highlights what you love about home but also makes you aware of the things you might not.
It’ s humbling— and that’ s a gift. You realise your way isn’ t the only way, and you become more open to learning from others.
Lesson: Travel makes you a student of the world— if you’ re open to listening and learning.
3. Resilience— Bouncing Back When Things Go Wrong
When you travel, things go wrong. You miss a train, lose your bag, order something weird off the menu, or accidentally offend someone with a cultural misstep. But you survive— and often laugh about it later.
Every time something unravels, and you keep moving forward, you’ re building resilience. Perfection becomes irrelevant, and the mishaps often make for the best stories.
Lesson: Mistakes are part of the adventure. Resilience comes from embracing imperfection.
