tracks that eventually take us to the Nevis Valley with its open plains and rounded hills. More river crossings and plenty of giggles as the day comes to a close back in Alexandra for a second night with a few well-earned beers and plenty of tales to be told.
Easier tracks and a chance to take in the surrounds as we head back north via Lake Onslow and Moa Creek as a steady rain dampens only gear, spirits remain high with the knowledge we have had some of New Zealand’ s best and more is still to come although, the Omarama Saddle is scratched from the itinerary due to the weather. That’ s the appeal of a Rumbling Adventures Five Days Of Dirt; the course is set yet“ not in stone” to allow for environmental and rider challenges. That’ s adventure riding.
Kurow is the final night on the road. A small town with two pubs, plenty of cold beer and warm beds. The surrounding wineries provide a chance for a quick exploration of the local drop before preparing for the final day.
The Hakataramea Valley and Mackenzies Pass combine as the ride takes us back to the north and the destination of Christchurch. Wide gravel tracks give way to vast vistas of snow-capped peaks that dominate the horizon. More rivers
