Guided by Anas, we discover a taste for this concept of non-organised religion, a ride into the hills to be welcomed by a local community that perform traditional ceremonies that welcome us to their lands. It’ s an insight that few are privileged to play a part of.
Encounters like this seem to be the norm, Dili Dirt has curated a series of rides that cater to everyone. Culture plays a huge part of the Timor and Dili Dirt story, along with Anas’ own harrowing history, each rider becomes submersed in what narrative is required to be told, no one is forced to listen and yet all feel compelled.
The landscapes of Timor-Leste are as diverse as the cultures, the riding conditions are what you’ d expect, often interspersed with that that comes as a shock. It’ s the level of adventure that most of us want, and when it’ s a little too much the team at Dili Dirt find solutions through adapting to the needs of the riders. An inclusive policy shines through, the attitudes of the guides soon project on to the riders as everyone helps to ensure even the most novice of riders finishes the day with a great smile.
