TRAVERSE 107
The recent release of the 2024 Adventure Tourism Development Index( ATDI) report offers an updated post-pandemic perspective on the adventure tourism landscape. It identifies leading destinations and provides key insights for countries to harness the economic and social benefits of adventure tourism by catering to the growing demand for authentic and transformative travel experiences.
In the broader Adventure Tourism Development Index( ATDI), Asia Pacific( APAC) countries with advanced economies( New Zealand, Japan, Australia, Singapore, South Korea) occupy the top positions. Nonetheless, the remaining 22 countries in the APAC region with emerging or developing economies also play a significant role in the adventure tourism industry. Therefore we, following the lead of the Adventure Travel Trade Association and the George Washington University International Institute of Tourism Studies took an in-depth look at this large region, breaking it down into East and Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and the South Pacific Island nations to see how it compares for the adventurous or overlanding motorcyclist.
