as if the mountains were softer , more rounded , more forgiving . The range forms an almost appendix like section of Kyrgyzstan that extends into a region between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan . And as grassed plains began to appear it suggested we were descending into more favourable terrain at a lower altitude . My lower torso argued to the contrary .
Something appeared in the distance , similar in feel to that of our last , a frontier , out post styled village . Sary-Tash was the Kyrgyz equivalent of Murghab where we ’ d spent our last night in Tajikistan , just out of town would be our home for the night .
The Alpine Dome Hotel presented as two giant igloo type constructions sat amongst the grassed hills of the Pamir Alay .
The sight was spectacular in that the dream of one man and his family could create something so unique in what many would consider a hostile environment . Two domes that housed numerous simple and yet well-appointed rooms . I ’ d been appointed my own , complete with an accompanying bathroom .
