BMW Motorrad has unveiled a revitalised R 18 lineup for the 2025 model year , introducing a captivating array of enhancements that breathe new life into this iconic motorcycle . Updates range from striking new paint schemes , which are detailed at the base of the release , to an expanded selection of customisable options .
A revision of the engine control now ensures compliance with the Euro 5 + standard . The maximum torque of the 67kW ( 91hp ) 1,802cc Big Boxer has been increased by 5Nm to 163Nm at 3,000rpm . From 2,000 to 4,000rpm , more than 150Nm of torque is available at any time .
BMW Motorrad has meticulously refined the R 18 ’ s timeless silhouette . It features an 18-inch rear wheel ( previously 16-inch ), a new wheel design featuring seven double spokes , as well as newly crafted designs for the front and rear wheel covers .
The front fender now has a more modern and dynamic look due to a sculpted surface elevation . Tracing the entire length of the fuel tank , the tank ' s sculptural form flows seamlessly into the rear fender , culminating at the BMW emblem in a seamless transition .
Other features that harmonise with this more dynamic design style are the new silencers with a circular cross-section and an individual seat with foam that is 10mm thicker and with modified design contours .
The entry variant to the BMW R 18 features a silver powertrain , a chromeplated exhaust system and black cast aluminium wheels . The Option 719 variant has a black powertrain , the Aero design package , surfaceenhanced Option 719 Icon cast wheels ( 19 ”/ 16 ”), a chrome-plated exhaust system and the Option 719 seat .
The BMW R 18 Blacked Out equipment variant is a new addition and features black elements almost throughout .
The BMW R 18 Classic also benefits from a refined design style . The most prominent new feature is the front mudguard adopted from the R 18 B in conjunction with a 19-inch spoke front wheel ( previously 16-inch ). The front fender now incorporates the mudguard extension , which has been significantly lowered for a stylish effect .
The new fender for the R 18 Classic not only complements the existing fork sleeves , but also confidently accentuates its connection to the nostalgic touring heritage . Accompanied by the newly designed side covers and circular rear silencers , the R 18 Classic now exudes an even more classic aesthetic .
