Gone Riding Dom Giles 2013 ISBN 978-1-7800372-0-2
What Dom Giles captures in Gone Riding is the true essence of what it means to be a traveller , regardless that he is aboard two wheels .
For Giles this was his gap year , a year to explore the world , 50,000 kilometres , 18 countries and two continents , and what he comes away with is that all leaders should be forced to do likewise in an attempt to dispel the myths that lead to so many political and moral divisions .
Giles discovers that true travel forces oneself to challenge preconceived misconceptions , to interact with the people and discover much more about yourself than you would believe . Forget the mass media hype and the racially charged stereotypes , travel will allow you to see from the other side .
Gone Riding provides an insight into Giles ’ state and how he discovers more about himself than what he would ’ ve sitting at home . It is a well thought through book , well written , descriptive and honest . The style is easy and creates a world where the reader can fall in with the author , becoming friends , discovering a world together .
Giles comes away from Gone
Riding with a renewed optimism that essentially the world is good and so are its people , it will do the same for you and perhaps inspire some readers to pack their bikes and head off on their own adventures .
Amazing Adventures Of A Nobody Leon Logothetis 2011 ISBN 978-0-9843081-3-2
Leon Logothetis has a unique way of describing himself , a nobody , it ’ s far from the truth , he ’ s a published author , television presenter , world traveller , yet before all of that he possibly was , a nobody .
Amazing Adventures Of A Nobody , is Logothetis ’ first foray into the world of travelling author and what we get is a book that becomes a page turner from the very start , immediately having the reader think more about themselves and how they see the world than the other way round .
Reading along with Logothetis ’ journey sees the reader grow , experiencing the richness of varying cultures , comparing the ways of other with our very own and finding that the world is a good place with many more decent people than those that are not .
It comes across as a reality check in only the sort of way that a ‘ motivational ’ speaker can , it ’ s what Logothetis has gone on to be , it makes sense as he has found a way to see the best in everyone and uses it as a tool to drive change across the world . Amazing Adventures Of A Nobody will have you seeing similar traits in yourself .
Amazing Adventures Of A Nobody is beautifully written and crafted in a way that draws the reader in , always wanting for more , combining the observations of travel with the drive to seek and discover . It ’ s a delightful read , still relevant almost fifteen years after first publication .
